 A Good Choice |

| I've owned this mixer for 2 years. I use it at least once a week. It mixes everything I use it to mix, including bread dough (with the dough hooks, 4 C flour recipe). It mixes thoroughly and quickly. I've bought one for each of my daughters and they each love this mixer! Cooks Illustrated Magazine (America's Test Kitchen) rated this the top hand mixer of all the hand mixers they tested. They were right! |

| This is a great mixer that is good overall. The spped could be a bit faster but it could mix anything we threw at it, including refrigerated butter that was not even thawed. I would recommend! |
Ineffective beaters and broke way too soon

I've had this thing a year, and have used it maybe 10 times. The wire beaters, which seem to be all the rage, don't blend very well. For example, the sugar/butter combo you start with for cookies had huge chunks of butter that never blended, no matter how long or at which speed I used the mixer.
The motor is powerful, as it seemed to have no trouble "mixing" cookie dough, although I imagine not much power is needed to skim the thin wire beaters through butter without breaking it down and mixing it with the other ingredients.
Finally, what prompted me to write this review is that one of the beater inserts broke, so one of the beaters doesn't stay in or turn.
My last hand mixer lasted almost 10 years through many many batches of cookies. I don't remember what brand it was, but it was far superior to this ineffective piece of junk. I have to buy a new mixer now, and while I can't assure myself that it won't break, you can bet I'll be avoiding anything with wire beaters. |
